Healthy from the Outside-in

My name is Nicole and I’m happy to meet you here today! I work in IT, but I’m not smart. I just answer all the stupid questions people have. I send all the hard ones to someone else. I love coffee and not because it’s a fad. It keeps me from crying most days, or punching people. Either way it’s helpful, so I welcome it with open arms. I’m married to a handsome guy who is very dorky and I’m thankful to have someone who understands me so well and is also very poor at adulting, as we call it these days. Nice to meet you!

Right now I’m building my career that allows me to work from home. I teach workshops about health and wellness from the inside out- what we put in our bodies, and on our bodies. Here in the US, we tend to skip that last part. We rarely think about what we put on our bodies effecting our health. Meanwhile, have you noticed any rates for breast cancer, hormonal disorders, etc, heading upwards lately?
Here’s a test: get a clove of garlic and put it in-between your toes. Within 60 seconds you will taste it in your mouth. No joke! Try it. This happens because whatever you put on your skin actually absorbs into your bloodstream within 26 seconds! That’s why things like Nicotine patches and some heart medications in patch form are effective; they travel rapidly straight into your bloodstream.
That being the case, we really need to pay better attention to what is in our cosmetics. Not only our makeup, but also our lotions, shampoos, soaps, etc. In the US, we allow quite a bit into our cosmetic industry- it’s actually not even regulated by the FDA because it is not considered a food or drug. In the last 3 or 4 years, we’ve only banned about 9 things from our products, while in Europe, they’ve banned about 1400. Things that are illegal to use there are rampant in our products here.
One major filler we use is mineral oil, which has about 30 different names. At the end of the day, it’s actually a crude form of gasoline that used to be used on gears. We use it in our cosmetics now because it serves as a cheap filler. The problem with it? It doesn’t let our skin breathe well, it constantly stacks toxins into our body, and it throws off our hormonal imbalance. For more info on that, check out this article from
It seems like such a minor thing, but do you know that by the end of our daily routine we’ve probably exposed our body to over 100 chemicals?

Here’s a news story on that: abc news. When we’re doing that every single day, we’re going to see the effects of it. And it seems that we are. I don’t think a day goes by that I don’t hear about someone having health issues that relate back to hormonal imbalance, etc.
My family uses plant-based products regulated by European standards so that we are assured that these chemicals aren’t even an option. It has made a phenomenal impact on our health. Here are a few of our favorites:
